Project #1 – White Totoro – Part I
This is it! This is going to be my first official project. This is the reason I took knitting. I am going to make a Totoro.
Of course, there was a lot of searching, and there were a lot of suggestions, but I found this Chibi Totoro Toy pattern.
It looked small and easy. And it was cute. It was time to start.
Then I opened up the PDF:
I had no idea what this meant. K1 all Stats? M1? K REM?
WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?
I had no idea, and there wasn’t a legend on the pdf either. So I went to my wife and she enlightened me.
K(x) = Knit x number of stitches
Sts = Stitches
It made a bit more sense. I still, however, cannot help but say “KAY ALL STATS” whenever I see it. I don’t know why I say it, but I like stats.
Anyway, Ravelry didn’t seem to have a way to keep a log about the project. That would be awesome if they did. They could implement status updates and it would log the time.
And unfortunately, everything is all hush hush within the secret society of Ravelry. I can’t let you see my page if you haven’t joined Ravelry. Makes you wonder what they’re scheming…
Anyway, I kept a log myself:
3:00 pm – I LEARNED HOW TO “Make 1”. It ADDS ANOTHER STITCH! Mind = BLOWN!
3:30 pm – Learned about DPN’s… and knitting in a round.
4:00 pm – In google hangout with Debs and we’re knitting together.
5:00 pm – Spent last hour re-balling the yarn because it was too tangled. Sigh NOW I CAN KNIT!
8:30 pm – had dinner. Now doing the BOBBLE!
9:00 pm – Had to stop because my bro-in-law and I went to see Life of Pi.
See how riveting that was? Doesn’t EVERYONE want to read about Bobbles? Why on earth won’t they let us keep logs on the minutia of our projects? It’s as fun as bookkeeping!
The most exciting thing was the completion of the BOBBLE! HOW EXCITING IS THAT BOBBLE?
