The world has spoken. My facebook has been telling me I should knit for penguins. I guess I should.
Debs and Errol had an indiegogo campaign to help fund their next EP. I don’t know why I’m speaking about them as if I’m not one of them. One of the perks involved knitting. If you donated $50, we would knit you a Totoro Shaker. I would hope that the high price would deter people from actually going for that perk, but people did. And then I forgot that the perk also applied to all the perks above it as well.
So in the end, Debs and Errol have to knit 22 Totoro Shakers. We did not plan this well.
Today is a holiday for Canadians. Thing is, I’ve been extra busy with my band and attending a host of geek events that are held in Toronto. My wife has been very patient with me and so I told her that I would happily go to the beach with her and the family for the last day of the long weekend.
For you, that sounds like something grand. Not me. I’m not a huge fan of things like sun, sunscreen, water, sunburns, sand, sand stuck to sunscreen, sand in food, lake water mankyness, etc. Now, I don’t want to sound like a party pooper, but… I’m a party pooper. However, I am quite happy for others to have a wonderful time at the beach as long as my presence isn’t required.
However, my children seem to want me to come to these family outings and so we decided today was a day for the beach. Huz… zah.
Ok, I knew I should have written a blog a few days ago. February starts February Album Writing Month where you write 14 songs in 28 days. So that means there is a lot of commenting in forums and no knitting. Sometimes I write a song. I’m kinda social when I do these things. In fact I started up a knitting thread in the forum. All these people knit! Isn’t that awesome?
Totoro #10 was made with some very thin yarn. The needles I used were larger, around a 4mm. So I decided to try 2mm and made Totoro #12 and #13! Look how small and cute they are! My daughters started squeeing when they saw them and now they have put orders in for a glowing totoro, a mini totoro, and the regular sized Totoro.
Do those kids do anything for me? Do they make me coffee? Do they cook me bacon? NO! I don’t know why I listen to their demands.
You know, I want to do the Grey Totoro but I keep getting distracted by this pattern. It’s fun and easy to do! However, knitting on small DPNs is HARD!
People like to start conversations with me now that I knit in public. I would assume if my hobby was underwear in public, I wouldn’t garner as much positivity as I do with knitting.
It’s cool though. Just last night, my wife and I were knitting in McDonalds. A woman starts chatting with us on how I knit continental while my wife knits the other way. I call it ‘the other way’ because I have no idea what it’s called. The woman was wondering if my wife was teaching me, but then she noticed I was knitting differently. Pretty impressive someone was paying that much attention!
I have tiny metal DPNs. I didn’t know the size so I checked the package and that’s when I saw the word:
How awesome is that? If I got to say THAT instead of DPN’s, I’d be saying it any chance I GOT!
“Yes! With my STRUMPFSTRICKNADELNS!”
It GLOWS! IN THE DARK! It’s AWESOME!
The camera picks up a lot of light, so the white light is from the monitor of my computer!
My daughters are trying to steal it. In fact, they were playing with it before I put the eyes on and then they lost it.
I got them out of bed to help me look for it. Rotten kids.
Woops, I hope my wife doesn’t read this.
Now I need to make a second one for the other kid. Then a third for myself.
And you know what? I hear the yarn is discontinued. NOOOOOOOOEEESS!
You know what this means:
You know what’s super awesome? Other than bacon. And glow in the dark yarn? And maybe a hot bath with massages from…
Gosh, I get sidetracked easily. Here, this is awesome:
